Is the pragmatic and neutral word for 2/1 ratio, commonly and wrongly called Octave, because Octave is the name of the eight interval in the Diatonic scale, scale that is not exclusive for notation and composition. Exist other ways for realize music, which other scale systems can be approved in use.
